Small Animal Veterinarian:
Dr. Rebecca W. Alford graduated as an Honor Student from Auburn University in 1975 and has enjoyed working with dogs and cats in small animal practices from Maryland to Maine and then finally settling down in Florida.
Here in Live Oak, she and her husband, Dr. John Alford, have owned and operated Live Oak Animal Clinic of Suwannee County, Inc since 1981. She enjoys horseback riding and salt and freshwater fishing, with her family. Dr. Becky loves all breeds of horses and owns and trail rides Tennessee Walking horses, Arabians and American Quarter horses. Most important, has 2 sons and 2 grandchildren to occupy her time when she is relaxing at home.
Small Animal Veterinarian Receptionists:
Tammy has been working with companion pets for over 20 years and at Live Oak Animal Clinic for the past 6 years as a full time Receptionist.
Desiree is currently working on her degree in Early Childhood Education and has been with Live Oak Animal Clinic as a full time Receptionist for the last 3 years.
Nannette is currently working full time for Suwannee County School and part time with Live Oak Animal Clinic. She has been with the school for 20 years and with us for 7 years as a Receptionist.
Small Animal Veterinarian Technicians:
Karen has been a Technician for 7 years with Live Oak Animal Clinic. As an avid animal lover, she has given a home to 5 dogs, 3 cats and 3 horses. She is well known for her expertise in horsemanship and barrel racing.
Allysen has been a Technician for 2 years and has been associated with Live Oak Animal Clinic as a volunteer for a year prior to employment. She is currently attending an AVMA Accredited college for her Associates in Animal Science Degree.
Tamala has had a life filled with horses and dogs. She has been a Kennel Assistant and Technician with Live Oak Animal Clinic for almost a year. She is cross trained as an Equine Technician. Tamala is known for her excellence in Equine Husbandry.
Dominique is our newest member of the Live Oak Animal Clinic team as a Kennel Assistant with cross training on the agenda. She is currently finishing high school and is involved in Equine Activities.
Large Animal Veterinarian:
Dr. John P. Alford graduated from Auburn University in 1975 and served in United States Army as a Captain. His position was in research at Walter Reed and Fort Mead large animal research farm. During the beginning years, he also moonlighted in Washington D.C. with a Small Animal Emergency Clinic and weekends in a Maryland mixed practice facility. Partnering with his wife in 1981, they purchased Live Oak Animal Clinic in Live Oak, Florida. Over the years, he has focused his practice on Equine Reproduction, Lameness Exams and general preventative and curative health care for large animals. Dr. John enjoys working on his stock car as much as he does racing at South Georgia Motor Sports Park. In his off time he likes to take his wife, children and grandchildren fishing, saltwater or freshwater. Time spent at the clinic not treating patients is monopolized by “Jake” his Mule and clinic mascot.
Large Animal Veterinarian Receptionist:
Tasha has been with Live Oak Animal Clinic for 9 years and has a multitude of responsibilities ranging from Receptionist to Technician to Inventory Manager. Her main interests include her family and pets, which encompass the smallest of Pomeranians to the largest of America Quarter Horses.
Large Animal Veterinarian Technician:
Angie has been a Technician for over 30 years, 19 years at Live Oak Animal Clinic and the previous 12 years at Maybeck Animal Hospital in West Melbourne, Florida. Her interests include, but not limited to, family, work, horses, dogs and cats. (Did she mention work?) She also supports local youth activities in Agriculture by volunteering with 4-H and educational workshops with the local Agriculture Extension Agency.
